Daryl Poon is currently Head of Technical Research at the Police Intelligence Department, Singapore Police Force. He is concurrently also a Police Negotiator with the Crisis Negotiation Unit of the Special Operations Command. He has spent his policing career in the investigation and intelligence domains. He previously served as an Officer-in-Charge in the Technology Crime Investigation Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department, and an Officer-in-Charge of the Commercial Crime Squad of Bedok Police Division Investigation Branch, where he led specialist teams investigating into computer intrusions and commercial crimes respectively. He was also a staff officer in the Research and Planning Division of the Criminal Investigation Department, where he led capability development planning for the investigation fraternity. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Pennsylvania; a B.S in Finance (Summa Cum Laude) from The Wharton School; a Master of Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and a Specialist Diploma in Information Security and Forensics from Temasek Polytechnic.
